Pagani Huayra Roadster.Production 100 cars, delivery from 2017.
Public debut at 2017 Geneva motor show also show at 2018 show.
The dream of a car like the Huayra Roadster can only be told through the words of Horacio Pagani, the man who more than anyone else has imagined, desired and shaped it, like the great sculptors of the past who had to struggle with shapeless but full of soul marble blocks.
“This is the most complicated project we have ever undertaken”.
“As we moved forward with the Roadster, we decided to give her a bit more of an edge in order to create a slightly more aggressive shape than the Huayra Coupé…”
“We realized the Pagani Huayra BC was an incredible piece of Engineering so all this technology was built into the Pagani Huayra Roadster…”
“From the beginning we set ourselves some pretty ambitious targets. The first, from a technical point of view, was to make a roadster that would be lighter than the coupé, which was already the lightest hypercar on sale at the time…”
“Engaging in such a challenge, to make just 100 cars, has meant an impressive effort for a company like ours, from a technical and human point of view.”
We hope that this six-year effort can get to touch you, rationally and emotionally.”
Pagani Huayra Roadster claims 1.8G, the highest lateral acceleration “ever seen on a car with road tyres”.
“Power is nothing without control.” This is the famous mantra that drove the Pirelli engineers to sculpt and design a specific rubber for the Pagani Huayra Roadster tires.
All 100 units of this car are reputed to have been sold and at £2.3 million a time this is quite an achievement. The car uses a Mercedes AMG twin turbocharged 6.0 litre V12 fettled to produce 764bhp more than the Huayra Coupe.
Pagani debuted the Huayra in 2012 as the replacement for the aging Zonda, despite the fact that the manufacturer continued to roll out special edition Zondas through 2014. The Huayra name may sound odd at first, but it is based on the God of the wind, Wayra Tata, from the era of the Inca empire. The Huayra coupe was limited to only 100 units and has been sold out since 2015, but since then, Pagani has launched the hardcore BC version and a handful of unique, bespoke models. In 2017, Pagani introduced the Huayra Roadster, a drop-top with bespoke chassis and features.
As far as materials go, it boasts the best materials the automotive industry has to offer, ranging from the finest Italian leather and soft Alcantara to carbon-fiber trim and polished aluminum.
Upholstery color combinations should be endless and customers will be able to order just about any color they desire, including hues to match the flashiest exterior colors available. The removable top will provide the thrills of driving fast with the wind blowing through your hair, while also enjoying the roar of the massive V-12 engine behind the seats.
Just 100 Huayra Roadsters will be built, with each one costing €2,300,000. Or a whisker short of £2m. Though it’s a moot point, because all 100 have already been sold. The name of both the coupe and roadster is derived from ‘Huayra-tata’ – an Andean wind god who would frequently appear in the form of a whirlwind…
