🚗 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé Reborn
📖 History of a Legend
The legend of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé was born in 1955 🏁, when Daimler-Benz created two road-legal coupés based on the dominant 300 SLR race car. These special coupés were nicknamed the Uhlenhaut Coupé, after their visionary designer and Daimler-Benz motorsport chief, Rudolf Uhlenhaut 👨🔧.
One of the two cars became Uhlenhaut’s personal car, and during the 1950s, it represented the pinnacle of automotive engineering 💡. With a top speed near 290 km/h (180 mph) 🚀, it was regarded as the fastest road car of its time, blending advanced design, cutting-edge technology, and unmatched performance.
Due to its legendary status and extreme rarity — with only two ever built — the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé is one of the most iconic and unobtainable dream cars in automotive history 🌟. A true holy grail for collectors 🏆.
Of the two coupés:
🔹 One remains preserved by Mercedes-Benz and is proudly displayed in their corporate museum 🏛️
🔹 The other was sold in May 2022 to a private collector for a record-shattering $142 million USD 💰 — the highest price ever paid for any car, whether at auction or private sale.
This sale eclipsed even the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, which previously held the record at $75 million 🐎.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé remains a masterpiece of motoring heritage — timeless, rare, and forever revered 🔥.
The Golden Age of Coachbuilding ✨
In the Art Deco era of the 1920s and 1930s, coachbuilding reached its pinnacle 🎨. Master craftsmen created stunning, elegant, and streamlined designs for marques such as Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Isotta Fraschini, and Hispano-Suiza 🏁.
We bring back this golden age by handcrafting coachwork upon original chassis from that time and designing new creations in the timeless streamlined Art Deco style. Each project is a unique expression of elegance, vision, and heritage 🛠️.
Coachwork: The Path to Creating a Custom Masterpiece 🚘
🔹 Coachbuilding on your pre-war chassis
🔹 Chassis Selection – The foundation for any coachbuilt marvel begins with sourcing and restoring the correct original chassis 🧩.
Each chassis is carefully inspected, and mechanical components — including frame, engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, and electrics — are either rebuilt or replaced as needed 🔧.
Clients can choose to modernize their chassis with optional upgrades such as power steering, synchronized or automatic gearboxes, power brakes, electronic ignition, and fuel injection ⚙️.
The Art of Design 🎨
Next, we create a one-off custom body design, engineered precisely for the selected chassis. Designs are tailored to your vision, inspired by the most iconic coachwork of the 1920s and 1930s — from open roadsters to aerodynamic coupés ✍️.
We rebody original chassis from legendary marques including:
Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lagonda, Delage, Delahaye, Lancia, Mercedes-Benz, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot Lago, Alfa Romeo, Isotta Fraschini, Avions Voisin, Maybach, and Horch.
Handcrafted Coachbuilding 🛠️
Our skilled Italian artisans hand-form the aluminum body panels using traditional techniques passed down through generations 🇮🇹.
Each motorcar is a masterpiece, designed to be driven with pride — whether on the autostrada, through city streets, or across alpine passes ⛰️.
