🏎️ McLaren F1 GT – The Final Evolution of a Legend 🏁

The final incarnation of the McLaren F1 road car, the F1 GT, was designed as a homologation special 🏆. Due to fierce competition from homologated race cars like the Porsche 911 GT1 and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR in the former BPR Global GT Series and new FIA GT Championship, McLaren had to radically evolve the F1 GTR to stay competitive ⚙️.

The changes were so extreme that FIA regulations required a road-legal version of the new racing car. Thus, the F1 GT was born 🏁.

✨ Key Features:

🦾 Extended rear bodywork, same as the “Longtail” GTR, boosting downforce and reducing drag.
❌ No rear wing like the LM – the long tail alone generated sufficient downforce.
🌀 Front end redesigned with wider fenders, extra louvers, and GTR-style detailing.
🪑 Interior stripped down for performance, fitted with a racing steering wheel 🏎️.
🧬 Built from standard F1 chassis, keeping their original production numbers.
🧪 XPGT prototype was F1 chassis #056.
✅ McLaren only needed to build 1 road car—but customer demand led to 2 additional units: chassis #054 and #058.
