Owner of 256 Cars (as of 2001) | FIA Legend | Motorsport Icon
Born in 1961, Mohammed Ben Sulayem is a legendary Emirati rally driver and one of the Arab world’s most iconic sports figures. Based in Dubai, he’s a multiple-time FIA regional champion and holds the record for the most international rally wins in the history of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. 🏁🌍
🏅 Unmatched Career Highlights
Since clinching his first regional title in 1986, Sulayem has won the Middle East Rally Championship a record 14 times, remaining undefeated throughout that series — a feat unmatched in FIA history. Over the course of his illustrious career, he competed in 61 international rallies, including events in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the World Rally Championship (WRC). He raced with top manufacturers like Opel, Toyota, and Ford.
Although he hasn’t raced professionally since 2003, Sulayem has never officially retired. Known equally as Mohammed bin Sulayem and Mohammed ben Sulayem, his name remains legendary in global motorsport circles.
As the founder of Ben Sulayem Performance, he’s known for building and modifying extreme-performance versions of sports and luxury cars. In 2005, he stunned the automotive world by fitting a Mercedes SLK 55 AMG with a modified SLR engine, creating a 740+ hp beast with 1,200 Nm of torque — capable of 350 km/h, outperforming even the Ferrari Enzo in video demos. 🛠️🔥
💥 In 2009, he famously crashed a Renault R28 F1 car during a demonstration drag race at the Dubai Autodrome, racing against Romain Grosjean in a Ford GT. The accident was dramatic, but Sulayem walked away uninjured.
🎮 Fun fact: He made a cameo in Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 video games! 🎮
